Shortened Brim CISO JWD Boonie
An early production CISO-made boonie circa. 1966-67. The brim has been significantly shortened and acts more as a camouflage headpiece rather than a functional boonie. This hat was likely used by a member of MACV-SOG. It features a black linen lining, a single seam on one side of the circumference of the crown, and two small steel eyelets on either side which perforate the lining. Faded with signs of real wear.

The ‘saw-tooth’ bobbin thread on the underside of the brim is a unique feature that is only seen on these boonies. The old sewing machines used to make these boonies were not fully capable of accommodating the thickness of the brim nor the heavy gauge nylon thread, producing this unique feature.
